Thursday Theme – Christmas Trees

The rules are easy:

  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
  • Make your snippet as long as you like.

The last book I read was called was Snowbound in Nowhere by Andrew Grey. Review to come on BER next week.

“This is the first time I’ve ever cut my own Christmas tree. You know, this may be the first time I’ve ever actually had a real Christmas tree. My folks always had fake ones because Mom was allergic to so many things.” Chris couldn’t help smiling and ignored the bits of snow that seemed to be working their way into his boots.

This quote reminds me of growing up. I grew up in a part of the country where you simply went for a long drive, found a tree you liked in the woods, and brought it home. It was always a big family event, everyone piling in the trucks/cars and finding the perfect tree. My Grandfather or uncles would trudge through the ditch to get the “right” tree, which was always a bit sparse and scraggly, but home it would come to be decorated.
